A Housecoat for Mom

A matching set for life-long friends

She Wanted Something Soft, Silky, and Summer-Ready

Mom wanted a summer housecoat like the one I made Zac, something light, silky soft, and shiny.

I went to Fabricland in Prince George and FaceTimed her so she could pick out which viscount satin fabric she liked best. She chose a seafoam green to match her teal-painted toes.

A Lucky Match from My Fabric Stash

She asked me to make two matching housecoats, one for my Tita (not featured here out of respect to her privacy) but I ran out of fabric.

Fortune would have it that one of the first fabric pieces I bought was the same weight, had a hint of green to match, and just so happened to be the same pattern of the very first garment I made – a pair of shorts for my mom, of course.

Waking Up Wrapped in Love

Mom loved the look and how the housecoat felt as soon as she put it on. She loves the multi panel design because it mirrors the one I made my Tita so that they are like matching charms that connect together.

I love that every morning I see her come out of her room wearing it, bundled in my love.
